At the railway station Mum told me I had to go to the railway station to pick up my grandma. How did she want me to pick up someone whom I had never met before? Yes, that's true. My grandma had lived in an area of the Amazonian rainforest where many scientists study monkeys' behaviour. She decided to go there twenty years ago to complete her university degree and I was born two years after her leaving. Although I had some pictures of her, that was the first time she was coming back home. When I arrived at the station, I was really impatient. There were many people waiting for the trains which were arriving and leaving. The platform was full of tourists whose suitcases were the heaviest-looking ones I had ever seen. There were some officers who didn't stop whistling and moving little red flags and some families whose children were fighting all the time. The porters were really busy helping people to carry their bags and the clerk at the ticket office was trying to calm down those who were queuing in front of her. I was quite nervous. Suddenly, I heard a voice which I recognized easily as I had talked to my grandma on the phone several times before. That was her! But she didn't come alone. She had three monkeys with her. | Form (Relative pronouns used in defining relative clauses) |
